CLIENT — BALDESSARINISEASON — FALL / WINTER 2024PROJECT — PATTERN ON DIFFERENT FABRICS

MY ROLE — CONCEPT / PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS / PRODUCT ADAPTATION

ONE PATTERN, WORKED THROUGH THE COLLECTION.

The repeat was adjusted for knitwear, outerwear, shirting and accessories. Scale, contrast and density changed with each material, so the pieces belong together without looking identical.

CASE STUDY / PATTERN TO PRODUCT

FROM COLOUR TESTS TO THE RUNWAY.

The first artwork was only the starting point. Colour references, material tests and scale trials determined how the repeat would work on each garment before the final looks reached the runway.

THE RESULT

THE SAME REPEAT, ADJUSTED FOR EACH MATERIAL.

The contrast is strong on knitwear, quieter under tailoring and scaled again for accessories.

HOW I WORK

FROM FIRST SKETCH TO FILES THE SUPPLIER CAN USE.

  1. 1

    RESEARCH & DIRECTION

I read the collection brief, look at the brand's existing codes and set a useful direction before drawing begins.

  2. 2

    MOTIF & SYSTEM

I draw the motif and build the repeat, testing rhythm and density until it works beyond a single crop.

  3. 3

    COLOUR & MATERIAL

Colour, contrast and scale are adjusted for the actual fabric, garment and production method.

  4. 4

    DELIVERY & ROLLOUT

I prepare the final artwork with the colourways, scales and formats the team and supplier need.

TEXTILE DESIGN / PRODUCT APPLICATION / BALDESSARINI

FROM GRAPHIC IDEA TO WARDROBE.

Placement prints, embroidery and patches are developed in direct relation to silhouette, material and scale. The selected looks show how textile ideas become distinctive product details across shirts, T-shirts, knitwear and outerwear.

CLIENT — BALDESSARINIPROJECT — PATTERN DEVELOPMENT

MY ROLE — PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS / SCALE DEVELOPMENT

ONE CONSTRUCTION, SEVERAL VERY DIFFERENT RESULTS.

Line weight, colour and depth change the character of this repeat. The same construction can be quiet and tonal, sharp and graphic, or almost three- dimensional, depending on the fabric and product.

PATTERN DESIGN / EXPERIENCE / PROCESS

PATTERN DESIGN IS PART DRAWING, PART SYSTEM, PART PRODUCTION.

I've designed allovers and placement prints for more than 17 years. I start with the brief and the product, then work through drawing, repeat, colour, scale and material tests. The artwork has to look good on screen, but more importantly it has to work on the garment.

That means making different decisions for print, knit, jacquard, leather, lining or an accessory. I often stay involved through sampling and apply the same design thinking to lookbooks, campaign assets and social content.

CLIENT — BALDESSARINISEASON — FALL / WINTER 2023PROJECT — PATTERN ON DIFFERENT FABRICS

MY ROLE — PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS / OUTERWEAR ADAPTATION

FROM FLAT REPEAT TO VOLUME.

The geometric motif was built to work at different scales. Its soft gradient creates depth in the flat artwork and a strong rhythm across padded outerwear.

CLIENT — BUGATTISEASON — SPRING / SUMMER 2025PROJECT — PATTERN ON DIFFERENT FABRICS

MY ROLE — PATTERN CONCEPT / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS / ACCESSORY ADAPTATION

GRAPHIC IDENTITY ACROSS THE PRODUCT.

Two coordinated repeats combine a precise black-and-white rhythm with a softer geometric construction. On the travel bag, the pattern links the accessory directly to the campaign look.

COLOURWAYS / REPEATS / SCALE

A PATTERN IS NEVER ONLY ONE IMAGE.

I test each idea as a repeat, then adjust colour and scale for the material, silhouette and production method.

CLIENT — BALDESSARINISEASON — SPRING / SUMMER 2025PROJECT — SHIRT ALLOVER

MY ROLE — PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS / SHIRT APPLICATION

BOTANICAL, BOLD AND MADE FOR SILK.

The floral artwork balances broad silhouettes with fine leaf structures. A reduced two-colour treatment keeps the allover contemporary and allows the print to sit naturally within the full seasonal look.

THE DETAIL YOU SEE IN MOTION.

A typographic lining developed as a discreet brand layer inside tailored suits — visible in movement, but never competing with the exterior.

CLIENT — BALDESSARINISEASON — SPRING / SUMMER 2023PROJECT — PATTERN ON DIFFERENT FABRICS

MY ROLE — PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / SCALE / PRODUCT ADAPTATION

ONE REPEAT ACROSS SHORTS, BAG AND TRIM.

The repeat was scaled separately for shorts, bag and styling details. Each application works for its material, while the complete look still belongs together.

BOSS Green Technical Beetle Allover in Schwarz und Weiß

CLIENT — BOSS GREENSEASON — PRE-SPRING 2025PROJECT — TECHNICAL BEETLE ALLOVER

MY ROLE — CONCEPT / PATTERN DESIGN / REPEAT / COLOURWAYS

A BEETLE DRAWN AS A TECHNICAL ALLOVER.

I built the beetle from wireframe geometry and halftone structures, then set it into a high-contrast black-and-white repeat for BOSS Green. The result sits between an organic study and a technical drawing.
